Prayagraj: Up to 18 students from various tertiary institutions in Prayagraj have successfully secured prestigious scholarships from the Central Government, by bringing the laurels of their own institutions and the city.
Other than this, two researchers of AC Pandey from the Ministry of Commerce and Business Administration, University of Allahabad have been awarded the prestigious PhD Fellowship from the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. Last year, a Pandey researcher, Smita Dikshit, was awarded a full-time institutional doctoral fellowship while another Pandey researcher, Shivam Upadhayay, was awarded a doctoral fellowship from the ICSSR this year.
As per the merit list available on the official website of the University Grants Committee (UGC), 18 students of Prayagraj institutions have been awarded these All India Level Scholarships including Indira Gandhi PG Scholarship for Unmarried Girl, PG Scholarship for Undergraduate Candidate and PG Scholarship for Professional Courses For SC/ST Candidates – Their results were announced on the National Scholarship Portal by UGC recently.
The students belong to Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad University (AU), Nehru Gram Bharti University (NGBU) and Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Science (SHUATS). The meritorious students who have been awarded the PG Scholarship for the Undergraduate Candidate this time are Dwaram Mrudula from the MSc (Agriculture) course at SHUATS along with Siddhi Pandey and Vidushii Garg, who are both Masters of Commerce (MCom) students at AU. Similarly, the Indira Gandhi PG Single Girl Scholarship has been awarded to Akanta Paul and Rachakatla Divya Bhavani, both Masters (Agriculture) students at SHUATS.
Similarly, the 14 students awarded PG Scholarship for Professional Courses for SC/ST Candidates include seven students from the 3-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course at MNNIT including Abhishek Aadhar, Jay Kishan, Preity Kumari,
Rashmi Bharti, Sharad Kumar, Sheshu and Vishal Siddha along with Sunil Kumar from MBA course at Nehru Gram Bharati University and Abhishek Kumar from MTech (Food Technology) at SHUATS along with MBA students, Arpit Kumar, Jyoti Kumari and Nikhil Kumar Kanujia from the American University as well as Sandeep Kumar from the Master of Education (MED) program at the American University.
The Undergraduate Graduate Scholarships is awarded to students who have achieved first and second place at undergraduate level and have been accepted into any regular full-time master’s degree course at any recognized university, university, private university, independent college or graduate school.
Likewise, the Indira Gandhi Postgraduate Scholarship for Unmarried Girl has been made with the aim of offsetting the direct costs of educating girls, especially for those girls who happen to be the only child in their families. PG Scholarships for SC/ST Professional Courses is an initiative for SC/ST candidates who are pursuing a postgraduate course in professional subjects.
