Finding a great scholarship that can pay for your program in an expensive country is a huge relief. With so many scholarships for Indians studying abroad, how do you know which one you can apply for and which one is specifically designed for Indians?
In addition, many famous people – the likes of Rhodes, Chevening, Fulbright and others – are either too competitive or too restrictive. A better strategy is to target people who are less well known, but offer as good or better advantages.

Government of Israel Scholarship
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Israel has a special agreement for scholarships for Indians studying abroad in Israel – you can apply for Scholarship To pursue either a summer language course (Ulpan) or a one-year course (Master’s, PhD, Post-Doctoral or Research Studies) of up to eight months.
You must have at least a Bachelor’s or BA (or higher) degree, good academic record, be under 35 years of age, be an Indian citizen, demonstrate English or Hebrew proficiency, and meet the requirements of the Israeli university to which you plan to apply.

You can only apply once. If you are selected for the Academic Scholarship, you will receive a partial tuition waiver (50% max. $6,000 for tuition that costs $12,000 and up), eight monthly allowances (October to June) and basic health insurance. The partial academic year scholarship includes the monthly stipend and health insurance only.
Successful applicants for the Summer Language Course receive a full tuition waiver, dormitory, and three weeks allowance plus basic health insurance. Universities and programs must be accredited by the Israeli Council for Higher Education; The Department of State will award the Ulban Scholarships.

Royal Thai Government Scholarship
The second option in the list of scholarships for Indian students studying abroad is Royal Thai Government Scholarships, Available to outstanding Asian citizens including those from India who wish to study at the best university in Thailand: Asian Institute of Technology. These scholarships for Indians studying abroad in Thailand include His Majesty’s Scholarship for both Masters and PhD programs and Her Majesty’s Scholarship for Masters program only.
The fields of study for this scholarship include engineering (civil, infrastructure and industrial systems), environmental sustainability and development among others. Students interested in food, agriculture, resources, energy, management and information and communication technology can also apply.

Orange Tulip Scholarship
Coordinated by the Dutch Education Support Office in India, it offers around 18 institutions of higher education in the Netherlands Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS) for Outstanding Students from India. The majority of these institutions have master’s scholarships for Indian students studying abroad in the Netherlands.
Applicants must not hold a degree from any Dutch institution or must not work in the Netherlands. Most importantly, they must have applied for or been accepted into Dutch institution participating in OTS.
Benefits vary at each institution – some may offer full tuition fees, others may offer a 25 or 50% reduction in fees, and for certain institutions, only living expenses or visa fees may be covered. It is best to check with each university and confirm the type of sponsorship that can be provided.

Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Scholarship
the MEXT . Scholarship Available to Indian nationals wishing to study in Japan at a specialized training college, college of technology or university for undergraduate studies. Scholarships for Indian students studying abroad in Japan include: Research, Teacher Training, Undergraduate, Japanese Studies, College of Technology, Young Leaders Program, and College of Special Training.
Applicants can expect to receive a monthly living stipend in addition to airfare and tuition fee waiver. However, the Young Leaders Program only – for Master’s studies – is currently open; For other scholarships, please Check With the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi.
At the same time, MEXT applications are handled by the Japanese Embassy or Consulate and/or Foundation – so it is best to contact them directly to get more information about this MEXT scholarship. Applicants should understand that there is no application fee.
Alliance of International Scientific Organizations (ANSO) Scholarship
Another scholarship for Indian students studying abroad is ANSO Scholarship. For students wishing to undertake postgraduate studies – either MSc or PhD – in China, this is a good choice.
Established to train young scientists from all over the world, this scholarship will finance studies at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or institutes affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences across China.
Successful applicants will get full tuition fee waiver, monthly stipend of CNY3,000/CNY6,000 (Master/PhD), health insurance, application fee waiver, and subsidized travel to China (one trip). They have to complete C successfullyDecentralized training in Chinese language and Chinese culture on top of their undergraduate degree thesis.
You can apply for this scholarship either through UCAS or USTC but not both; And you must not be a current MSc or PhD student in China. Besides not holding any Chinese nationality, you must demonstrate proficiency in English or Chinese, and follow all applicable Chinese laws as well as USTC/UCAS rules.
