The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has invited applications from students belonging to the economically weaker sections, for the 2021 LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarships, to pursue postgraduate studies.
The aim of the program is to provide meritorious students with better opportunities for higher education and thus enhance their employability.
Two categories of scholarships are offered on a divisional basis. A total of 20 regular scholarships per department (10 for both boys and girls) will be offered to pursue postgraduate studies in (i) medicine and engineering, graduation in any discipline, diploma course in any field and integrated courses (ii) professional course through government-recognised colleges/institutes or industrial training courses
Institutes (ITI). Ten special scholarships will be offered to young girls in each department, for 10+2 studies.
Only children whose parents/guardian receive annual income from all sources not exceeding Rs 200,000 are eligible to apply for the scholarships. Income limit is 4 lakhs for children (1) who have lost one or both parents/sole breadwinner of the family due to COVID 19 and (2) in case the woman (widow/single/unmarried) is the sole breadwinner of the family. The scholarship may not be given to more than one student in the family.
Eligibility for Ordinary Scholar: Applicant must have passed Semester XII/its equivalent with at least 60% marks/equivalent grade in the academic year 2020-21 and must be pursuing higher education in one of the fields of medicine, engineering, graduation in any discipline, integrated courses or Diploma course in any field, other equivalent courses, professional courses through government recognized colleges/institutes or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) or must have passed Class X (or equivalent) examination with a minimum score of 60% (or equivalent degree) in the academic year 2020-21 and pursuing higher education in the field of professional courses through government-recognised colleges/institutions or courses at Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) during 2021-22.
For Young Girls Special Researcher: Applicant must have passed Class X/equivalent examination with at least 60% marks/equivalent grade in the academic year 2020-21 and must be pursuing higher education at Intermediate level/10+2 During 2021-22.
The scholarship must be offered for the duration of the course for Regular Scholars and two years for Private Scholar, provided the candidate meets the eligibility requirements required for renewal.
Scholarship rate: The scholarship amount per year will be Rs. 20,000/- for an ordinary researcher and Rs. 10,000/for Special Girl Child, both paid in three installments.
