With a rich history of celebrity sightings, tropical beauty, panoramic water views and unrivaled tarpon fishing, Boca Grande is one of Southwest Florida’s best kept secrets. Over time, it has taken visionary owners to restore the island’s resources and preserve its hidden treasures – and the same can be said of the homes that include it. Seagate accepted one of those challenges when it remodeled a two-story 1,500-square-foot condominium south of downtown Boca Grande.
A classic beach-inspired property, the apartment needed a facelift to improve performance and take advantage of its coastal style. Seagate started with the elevated exterior of the exterior facade – removing the wood decks and installing a high-performance composite deck that immediately draws everyone toward the entry door.
The interior honors the exterior and mimics the look to give a relaxed coastal vibe and a cohesive feel. Aside from new gray tile floors, a smoky white and blue color scheme, and seamless crown molding as well as new recessed lighting, fans, and hurricane-rated windows, some of the home’s biggest changes begin in the gallery kitchen. It now features Shaker-style cabinets, soft-closing cabinet drawers, floor-to-ceiling pantry, storage surrounding a French door refrigerator, and new stainless-steel appliances like the sliding stove range with stainless-steel lid. Combining cozy cooking with a path to a palm-tree window, the crew removed the roof to level the ceiling and created space for a wall of cabinets and a built-in microwave. They also added a peninsula with quartz countertops for better dining and guest entertainment. The kitchen is topped by a subway tile backsplash in soothing Southwest Florida sandy hues. A wet bar under the stairs, with the same kitchen finishes, serves as an anchor for open leisure spaces where homeowners and guests can enjoy expansive views of the landscape, beach and bay as well as enjoy intimate gatherings. Hurricane-rated triple sliding glass doors take everyone to the covered porch and give them access to the beach. The new and oversized laundry room includes improved foldable storage space as well as a new washer and dryer. This – along with the powder bath – completes the first floor.
A staircase with improved balustrades, spindles, post, and vanity takes homeowners and guests to the second floor, which includes a master suite, guest bedroom, and guest bathroom. In the master bedroom, Seagate surrounded the balcony with expansive windows that flooded the space with natural light. This private retreat accommodates a built-in desk, seating, ample storage, space for comfy armchairs, and inviting private front-row views of sugar sand beaches and sparkling water. The master bathroom offers a linen cabinet for extra storage and hexagon floor tiles that flow into a frameless, glass-enclosed shower. The walls in both bathrooms are trimmed with subway tiles with a corrugated frame that gives the illusion of glossy glass. When light hits this glass, it mimics the sun’s brilliance on the water, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces.
“Seagate has provided exceptional quality and service to help us reimagine and redesign our space for maximum use, while maintaining classic coastal style,” said apartment owners, Mary Harmon and Donnie Eliasson.
Now, Seagate is taking apartment jobs a step further with a new back deck and garage. The former will feature a high-performance composite deck located before and behind the screen door, while the latter will replace the parking spaces below the house.
