Early Life And Education

Adamu Sule Was Born into the family of Late PA. Sule Ogereva Of Omgbo/Unosi Ward In Ajaokuta LGA Of Kogi State.

Adamu Sule Completed his Qur’anic and Primary Education in Ajaokuta native town (Ajaokuta village) after which he proceeded to Niger Baptist College, Minna and obtained a Grade II Teacher’s Certificate in 1972.

In his quest to further his Education, he gained admission to College of Education, Sokoto in 1973 and graduated as an NCE holder in 1976.
He was the school Imam and also President of the Students Union at the time.

In 1979, he went to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria where he graduated in 1982 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A. ED).
He went back to the same institution and obtained Master of Public Administration (MPA) and graduated in 1988.


After serving as Assistant Headmaster in LEA primary school, Kuta in 1973, HOD(Maths) at GSS Kutigi between 1977 n 1979 and then HOD(Govt) at GSS Minna in 1982 he transferred into the Administrative cadre of the Niger State Civil Service and worked in the following MDAs and rose through the ranks of his civil service career.

– Ministry of Commerce and Industry (1983-84)
– Cabinet office, Minna (1984-85)
– Ministry for Local Govt (1985-86)
– Military Governor’s office (1989-90)
– Cabinet office, Minna (1990-93)
– National Directorate of Employment (NDE) (1993 to 1994).

He was then called upon to Serve his people as Caretaker Chairman of Ajaokuta LGA during the regime of Late General Sani Abacha under the then Kogi state Military Administrator, Colonel Paul Omeruo, a position he held between April 1994 and April 1996.

His Projects

Under his reign as Caretaker Chairman he had the following projects and programs executed within two years.

A. Completion of:

– Ajaokuta LGA Secretariat
– Chairman/Secretary’s quarters (now Corper’s lodge.

The above two projects were initiated by Hon Abdulazeez Abu of blessed memory, the pioneer Sole Administrator of the Local Govt.

B. Construction of PHC clinics and their staff quarters in the following communities:


C. Construction of blocks of classrooms in:

– Inaere
– Adu
– Geregu

D. Sinking of Boreholes across the Local Govt.

As a lover of Education, Adamu Sule was not satisfied with the level of Education he desired for his people on assumption of office he sought for the state government approval to Grant anyone newly employed an opportunity to immediately proceed on study leave if such employee so desire. This was granted and that informs one of the reasons why we can boast of numerous graduates today in our Local government.


Colonel Paul Omeruo the then Military Administrator in his speech on the day he commissioned the projects he said “Ajaokuta is a shiny example for other Local governments to emulate”.
He was honored among other Chairmen with a Certificate of Honor for the development of Ajaokuta LGA in particular and Kogi in general by Colonel Paul Omeruo.

However, after his tenure he was appointed the Director of Local government (DLG) known then as Secretary then and worked in:

-Mopa Moro and
-Ofu LGAs

He died while still in active service after a brief illness in the year 20-08-2000.
